Two Aboriginal men hunt a monstrous Mihirung bird 40,000 BC. This is perhaps a particularly robust specimen of Genyornis Newtoni, a thunderbird that roamed the wilds of Australia until around 26,000 years ago.
These birds were not related to today's emus, as we might expect, but were more closely aligned to ducks, chickens and turkeys -- like a gigantic mutant poultry from the very depths of hell!
It would have made an excellent feast for a group of Aborigines; but was it worth the peril of hunting such a monster?
Interesting concept! I've been wondering what it must have been like to meet a Megalania in prehistoric Australia. As we know that, this huge monitor died out after the first Aboriginals arrived.
Australia must have been a terrifying place when the first humans arrived. I reckon the Aboriginal practice of burning off the grasslands probably started as a way of stopping Megalania from sneaking up on them.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
